Welcome to San Francisco International Airport

By the year 1776, the first colony appeared on the bay area that is now San Francisco, California. This world famous city had its humble beginnings as a tiny little settlement until the mid 1800’s when prospectors first found gold…igniting a huge burst in population for San Francisco. Practically overnight, people from all over the world rushed to San Francisco in hopes of making their own fortune in gold.

After the gold rush faded through, most of the prospectors settled in the nearby city realizing that just as much money could be made there. The town has been steadily growing since then. It attracted such visitors as Mark Twain, Ambrose Bierce, and Jack London. With the aid of the new Inter-Continental train in 1869, transportation became easier and the city attracted even more people. By 1870, San Francisco had become the largest city in the United States filled with immigrants from all over the world.

Today, the city still maintains it’s international reputation and is known for great architecture, art, food, and scenery. San Francisco is home to some of the world’s most famous landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Fisherman’s Wharf. Visitors to San Francisco today can be sure to be amazed at what all it offers.
