Brian Gefrich and Joel DeYoung are pleased to announced that after a long wait, a public beta of SquawkBox 4 is now available to try on the VATSIM network. This version of SquawkBox works with Flight Simulator 2002, 2004 and FSX. It has been tested on Windows XP and Vista. Download this latest beta version and help find and resolve the last outstanding bugs. The main Squawkbox site can be found here: http://www.squawkbox.ca/ Please use the Squawkbox forums to report or discuss any issues: http://www.squawkbox.ca/forum The following issues are already known to occur: - Transponder module may toggle to "ACTIVE" when connecting to a server, regardless of current setting. You may still set the transponder to STANDBY mode after the connection is made. - Switching your sound device in the settings while receiving a voice transmission can cause crashes. Download the SB4 open beta via one of the links found here: http://squawkbox.ca/downloads

05/15/2008 0122Z: Boston ARTCC Airport Information: NOTAM: The taxiway layout at Boston Logan airport (KBOS) has changed slightly on the western and southern portions of the field. Affected and new taxiways include: Alpha, Alpha-1, Alpha-2, Bravo, Echo, Echo-1, Echo-2, Kilo, & Mike. We will continue to provide ground control service consistent with the old taxiway system until new scenery is available or a pilot specifically advises the controller he/she has updated scenery and is able to accept a taxi route via the new taxiway system.

05/15/2008 0056Z: Miami ARTCC Airport Information: NOTAM: Runways will be referred to by the new numbering system used on all current real-world charts. Pilots with default scenery should be advised that they may see a different number painted on the runway. The old runway 9L/27R is now runway 8R/26L, the old runway 9R is now runway 9/27, the new runway north of runway 8R/26L is runway 8L/26R. Pilots must make a special request to use runway 8L/26R because it conflicts with the default MSFS scenery and aircraft might appear parked on the runway.
